Finally the Ron of Argyll is back in the Whitsunday Island, offering sailing cruises, to and around the Whitsunday Islands. The Ron Of Argyll has just finished a major refit and is offering a more personalized charter with low numbers on board, to give the best possible experience possible of this truely amazing place. |
Steeped in history and romance, Ron Of Argyll was built in Scotland in 1928 as a gentleman’s yacht. Crafted by hand in teak and mahogany and crewed by King George V, she now sails the beautiful Whitsundays for 3 stunning days and 2 beautiful nights.
The Whitsunday Islands is an exquisite group of 74 Islands in the central part of the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park. Providing great sailing during the day and sheltered anchorages in the evenings. Fringing coral reefs around the islands provides a great range of hard and soft corals, and is the ideal habitat for a large range of marine species.
Your adventure may take you to a variety of locations including Whitehaven beach, Blue Pearl Bay, Langford Reef, Nara Inlet, Cid Harbour, Border Island and many other wonders. Each sailing cruise is tailored to specially suit the needs of our guests and the prevailing weather conditions.
You can join in and help with the sailing or just sit back and enjoy the surrounding. Try snorkeling with hundreds of different species of fish, go bush walking and feel one with the rainforest, what ever your pleasure the “Ronnie” has a recipe for you.
Over her diverse and adventurous history, Ron of Argyll has seen many ports and thousands of guests. Originally she carried top sails to allow her to catch the high wind above the buildings to aid her manouverability in port as she was built with no engine power. She has also featured on a West Indies postage stamp. Rumours abound of Marylin Munroe and even Errol Flynn sailing aboard the vessel at different times throughout her amazing life.
Being one of my personal favourites,I think this is without a doubt, the finest sailing vessel I have ever sailed on. Perfectly crafted, perfectly designed and balanced, I couldn't recommend a trip aboard her highly enough.
Don't miss an opportunity to sail aboard this truly, one of a kind, sailing legend.
