Maureens Cove

General information
Maureens cove is probably my favourite snorkelling site in the Whitsundays. When I take my own yacht to the islands for a whiz with the fish, this is my first choice. The coral and fish here are superb with fantastic coral formations and drop offs forming swim throughs and small caves full of marine life.
Anchoring outside the No-Anchoring limit markers is impossible unless you're quite a big boat and can lay in 25+ m of water ! So it's down to a choice of moorings. There are 3 moorings at the time of writing, 2 moorings for medium to large vessels and 1 for smaller yachts.

The mooring of my choice is found the the eastern end of the bay, nestled close to the reef wall. It provides more protection from the southerly swell than the others, although you'd need cast iron guts to spend a night here in strong southerlies as the swell wraps neatly into the bay.
