Launched in 1961, Enid Whitsundays takes us back in time to the days when Australia's most famous sailing races were dominated not by technology and sponsorship, but rather beautiful timber boats designed with timeless, graceful lines. Enid is well known within the established Australian yachting fraternity and has a long tradition of racing including Sydney to Hobart races and entered 15 times in Brisbane to Gladstone races. In 1964, Enid sealed her place in Australian racing history when she came first over the line in the first ever Sydney to Mooloolaba race. In 2003, she relived her glory days, competing against the numerous traditional boats in the Whitsundays and once again coming first over the line in the inaugural Hunter Classic Race.
Life aboard this lady of the sea is great fun! Her Classic looks and timber interiors make you feel you've stepped back in time. Enid has a combination of Single and Double Bunks in an open plan arrangement. Downstairs theres plenty of head room and a comfortable Saloon area for dining. Above decks theres plenty of Uncluttered deck space for sunbaking and at the rear a shaded seating area, perfect for socialising and relaxing. You're welcome to assist the crew, your skipper can show you how to set a course for Whitehaven beach.
Meals are freshly prepared on board and often served Alfresco, under the shaded seating area. At night the lanterns are lit, guests can relax and compare the days experiences with the other guests and crew. You may even hear a few sea dog stories from the crew.
The Whitsunday evenings offer as much enjoyment as the days, with an entirely different sea to gaze upon, a sea of stars, adorn the Whitsunday evening Skies. If your looking for a relaxed 3 days with a real sense of sailing history, Enid is the vessel for you.
